School of the Nations conducts car wash exercise

By: Dr Brian O’Toole
Director, School of Nations

More than 60 youths assisted with the car wash. About 30 of them were members of the 6th Form and the others were youths and children from the neighbouring Tiger Bay community who came to help.

The students made 600 brochures that they shared throughout the community; they called all the UN agencies to invite them and shared the brochures in the streets. The response from the community was really good – on the day alone more than G$300,000 was donated and with other donations from within the school yesterday the figure is now over G$530,000.

We have a sister school in Haiti. I have visited it on 6 occasions in the last 4 years. I have been in touch with the Manager of the school almost daily by email over the past few days so we have a direct link with the country.
