As part of their Public Education and Awareness Campaign, the Civil Defence Commission (CDC) promoted their new Public Service Announcement (PSA) in the studios of 94.1FM this morning. Director General of the CDC, Lieutenant Colonel Kester Craig, and Guyanese and International recording artiste Ms. Timeka Marshall, spoke with Gordon Moseley of Hits and Jams’ 94.1FM Jump Start.
The conversation centered on CDC’s rebranding, volunteerism and the collaboration to produce the audio track. The Director General told Mr. Moseley that even though CDC has been very active over the last few years few persons are aware of what the Commission is all about. He intends to change that with a series of activities beginning with the new PSA. The track was recorded by Ms. Marshall and features informative and catchy lyrics set to a Caribbean-hyped beat. Timeka Marshall indicated that she was elated to be a part of this project and encourages everyone to volunteer in some way or the other with the CDC.
The Commission plans to launch a new video PSA today and is currently updating its website to make it more accessible and updated. Persons wishing to volunteer can contact CDC’s National Emergency Monitoring System (NEMS) on 600-7500 or check their Facebook page for more details.
