Georgetown, Guyana – The Civil Defence Commission (CDC) today delivered a quantity of cleaning hampers to residents of the Charlestown and Werk-en-Rust areas. Persons there experienced flood waters yesterday due to high tide and problems with the koker at Princes Street. The waters have since receded.
The impact was first highlighted by the Ministry of Public Works during a visit by Minister Juan Edghill. Residents in the affected communities lauded the response effort while indicating that they will continue to be observant and cautious during the high tide period.
The CDC continues to work with other governmental agencies to ensure that residents are protected during hazard impacts.
