Georgetown, Guyana – The Civil Defence Commission (CDC) today welcomed the newly appointed Director General, Colonel (Retired) Nazrul Hussain. Colonel Hussain is currently the head of the Government enacted COVID-19 Taskforce.
Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips, ushered in the new Director General via a simple ceremony at CDC’s Headquarters in Thomas Lands. The senior government official also thanked the outgoing Director General, Lieutenant Colonel Kester Craig, for his years of stellar service.
Major Loring Benons, Deputy Director General of the CDC who also acted as Director General for a short period, indicated that the staff of the Commission will continue to strive towards excellence with the new leadership.
Colonel (Ret’d) Nazrul Hussain said that he is eager to learn more about the government entity and is ready to maintain the level of exemplary results produced by the CDC.
The staff of the Commission looks forward to working with their new Director General to meet the goals of Disaster Risk Management in Guyana.
