The Regional Executive Office (REO) of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara (Region 3) today received 3000 cleaning hampers from the Civil Defence Commission (CDC). These supplies were then delivered to the Uitvlugt/Tuschen Neighborhood Democratic Council (RDC), and the Stewartville/Cornelia Ida NDC under the direction of the Regional Executive Officer, Mr. Jagnarine Sauwack and Regional Chairman, Mr. Mohamed Ayube.
The hampers are part of an intervention by the Cabinet Level Flood Prevention Taskforce to alleviate the impacts of residents in the Region 3 communities. Mobile pumps are being situated at strategic locations, and the desilting and cleaning of drains and canals are underway to facilitate faster water run-off. The Taskforce will continue to monitor Region 3 and all other Regions across Guyana during the current rainy season. Moreover, additional hampers are ready to be dispatched should the Region require more supplies.
