International and Local Medical Representatives visit CDC

Georgetown, Guyana – Medical professionals from the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) today visited the Civil Defence Commission (CDC) Headquarters, as part of a Voluntary External Evaluation (VEE).

The Evaluation is aimed at identifying International Health Regulations (IHR) capacities. The CDC, which houses a National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), as the primary hazard response agency in the country was eager to facilitate the activity.

Director General of the Commission, Col. (Ret’d) Nazrul Hussain, engaged the representatives in significant dialogue about the response capacity, in the presence of key CDC personnel.
