Imam Safraz Bacchus of the Masjid Al-Abidin in New York today donated a large quantity of food supplies, along with wheelchairs, diapers, face masks and cleaning agents to the Civil Defence Commission (CDC).
Imam Bacchus indicated that this is their second donation towards the 2021 National Flood Response and that most of the items came from the Diaspora. Working closely with the Central Islamic Organization of Guyana (CIOG), the New York Masjid has coordinated this contribution for impacted residents countrywide.
Receiving the items was Public Information Officer at CDC, Patrice Wishart, who expressed gratitude for the continued support from the religious entity.
The CDC works with all religious facets to aid the flood affected communities across Guyana during this time.
